memorable Prayag-2010(continued)

Let I again start the fun and masti of Prayag. Whatevler the session was going on but the boys were busy in their own matter of talking to each other. I don’t know what kind of talks used to go among the crowd but in my vicinity girls were always the hot topic for time pass. That was why I could observe more about girls. As I was continue with the description of girls, I think its enough but how I can forget two more girls.

One was lady Ankita who was important to all 116 since she was the only personality who often used to come on the dais to entertain us and above that she was from the HR team. And the other was important to me. The one whom I like and the very first glimpse of that sweet and innocent girl made me feel that the heart was not only a low-frequency-vibratory-part of the human body.

The great lady Ankita is one of the important characters of historic Prayag 2010. This lady is a complete story in herself also which starts from her interview how she was recruited by L&T. (it’s a long story… some other time) because of noise in the auditorium she almost daily used to appear screeching at the boys and girls and bombarding the same paragraph with words like ‘corporate’ and ‘decorum’. (she should not have screeched at the girls since girls are the most decent and peace loving creature in the world…..really! ha…)

“guys, this is the corporate block. Senior officials and foreign delegates come here daily. So please maintain the decorum.” Probably I heard the word decorum first time here. But as we were bombarded by this paragraph countless times, ‘decorum’ became as much familiar as my friends. Now I had one more friend-‘decorum’.

I started to think to understand ‘corporate’ and ‘decorum’ in more depth. I got that there is a close relation between these two. Upto my understanding I came to the conclusion that corporate is nothing until and unless the decorum is not there and the decorum is the only important thing corporate is working for to achieve.

Now let move to Hazira trip. To get an industrial exposure, Hazira plant visit was in the schedule of Prayag. Instructions were given regarding safety majors and what we had to be dressed like. We had to leave for Hazira at 5 o’clock in the morning. So I slept that night early. I was in deep sleep.

I was on Hazira trip. I was sitting in the bus with my friends enjoying the journey. Suddenly the great lady appeared and started screeching with her paragraph…. ‘guys this is not your college bus. This is the corporate bus. Senior officials sit in this bus daily. Mr. A.M.Naik or Mr. Ravi Uppal may board the bus any time on the way. So please maintain the decorum.’

Meanwhile, my mobile alarm rang. I woke up. It was 4 o’clock in the morning. Thank God it was the dream. I left the room at 5 o’clock hoping that at least today I would not hear that kind of paragraph in the bus.

The trip was really enjoyable. We returned late in the night. Like my dream nothing happened during the trip. I was thankful to the great lady that this time we were not forced to maintain the decorum.

So many people came for the sessions during the entire Prayag but now I can recall only one person Mr. Juda. He was for two days session for sprinkling of masti or mare than that. I don’t know whether I learnt something from that session but I am sure that we all boys enjoyed those two days. No comment for girls.

Prayag reached its closing and all GETs were invited by L&T for party at surya hotel. This was my first chance to be present in this kind of party-corporate party. Here again girls caught my attention. All girls were looking gorgeous. Even she was also looking great. Most of the girls were flaunting their shoulders and waxed and smooth legs below their knees. In spite of trying to control, my eyes were slipping over their smooth and glowing skin. It was not my mistake. It is the smell of flowers which attracts bugs…… Being Tajmahal in front of eyes, who would like to close his eyes?

This was the last day of Prayag. After valedictory ceremony we were returning from the company by bus. This was the last time that we were in the bus with each other since from the next day everyone had to go to different places like Chennai, Nagpur or Vadodara itself. Everyone wanted to enjoy that halfan hour journey. On request the song ‘choli ke peechhey kya hai…’was played. As the music of this song hit the ears, bus was full of halla-gulla. I suddenly stood up and looked all around the bus. Thank God Mr. R&D and Mr. thoughtful kind of people were not in the bus. I was worried because this kind of people could put nonsense question any time. If they had been in the bus, probably they might ask, “excuse me, can you tell me what is inside the choli? Or what is the scope of choli in R&D?” Everybody enjoyed that half an hour journey.

Team manthan

After an engineering college life it was my first day in the corporate world. In the auditorium I was sitting surrounded by the crowd of engineers where every face was unfamiliar to me and my eyes were crawling from one corner to another corner of auditorium. To know and to interact with each other we were made to play various kind of activities. Now some of the crowd was no more stranger to me.

We all were divided in ten groups each having 11 or 12 members and every team had to perform a technical presentation after a couple of weeks. I was confident for standing first in the presentation because I was in the team.

We were 11 and I suggested the name of the group as ‘ Team Manthan.’ Although I can’t recall the names of all 11 since I m very poor in practice of memorizing the name of people but I am sure that we were eight boys and three girls in Team Manthan. Out of all teams there was max number of girls in our team. So I was feeling happy. Not because of girls being in the team but because I was conceding these three girls as the ‘Nari Shakti’ of the team. As many times I have read or heard that behind every successful man there is a woman-‘Nari Shakti.’ So I became over confident for my confidant-‘Nari Shakti.’

Being women power behind the Team Manthan’s back, finally we did really well. Team Manthan stood third in technical presentation, second in mega quiz and first in overall performance. But unfortunately we got these first, second and third from last.

Memorable PRAYAG 2010

26 june; around 2 pm, at my home sitting on the chair putting palm on my chin I was deep in my thoughts giving the expressions as if trying to say, “don’t disturb, great mind at work!”
Meanwhile, I was distracted from my great work of thinking. Somebody was knocking at the door. I opened the gate and saw the postman standing before me holding his usual stuff-‘mails’. I wanted to shout at him why he had diverted me but before I could shout he handed over a letter to me. As soon as the L&T logo on the envelope caught my eyes, my mood had changed. It was the joining letter from L&T. without taking a next breath I opened the envelope to know the joining date and place. I leafed through the pages of offer letter 2-3 times with curiosity.
Days were passing day by day and joining date, 28 july, was marching close and closer. Days for rest were over and finally I arrived at Vadodara on 27 july. In the morning at 8:30 am on 28 july I reached L&T knowledge city. First day of my job!
Fresh engineers-fresh in mind and physique-from various colleges of india constituting a flock of 116 guys and girls joined L&T as GET-2010. Joining formalities were carried out within couple of days. Some HR official announced that orientation program ‘PRAYAG-2010’ of one month duration would commence on Monday,2 august.
As I heard the word ‘PRAYAG’ , my innovative, naughty and over smart mind processed the meaning of the word ‘PRAYAG’ faster than the super computer. And within few milliseconds I came with the conclusion that GET flock would go to Prayag for a dip in the confluence of three rivers for purification of our soul. Since L&T, a great value company, perhaps needs fresh engineers- not only in mind and physique but also in soul! Really?
My writings are the back up for my memory. Whenever I forget the interesting and funful events and moments of my life, I go through my lines and it causes smile on my lips. This is secret of my happiness, no need of life sucking stuff-smoke and alcohol. I feel that whenever someone feels anxiety or tensed, he should think of the colorful and pleasureful moments of his past. Definitely it will bring smile. I perceive that if a questionnaire regarding human habits is prepared and the one of the question is ‘can you smile? Yes or no. definitely answer is yes. But if you are asked, ‘can you smile really?’ answer may be in no. so always keep smiling.
Enough philosophy. Let us come to ‘PRAYAG’. A no. of boring sessions (not all but most of them) were bombarded at us from the very first day of prayag. Who was interested in the boring sessions? Definitely there were few guys like Mr. R&D, Mr. thoughtful and some more. These kind of people were always having amusing image but I don’t want to bore myself and others by describing these people. So let’s move to another interesting topic-girls. Whenever I see a beautiful face, a sher comes to my mind:
Jahan dekhi hanseen surat, machal utha dil-e-nadan;
Ye hi lunga, ye hi lunga, ye hi lunga.
But I have noticed that in present time it does not fit for boys so I have made some minute change in the sher :
Jahan dekhi hanseen surat, machal utha dil-e-nadan;
Ye bhi lunga, ye bhi lunga, wo bhi lunga.
Prayag started, every one occupied his seat in the auditorium where beautiful faces were in the front two rows. Although, only a couple of faces were beautiful in crowd of girls but I don’t want to make annoyed rest of girls by discriminating them on the basis of their beauty. Sorry if I had ever thought of this kind of differences. So rather than saying a couple of beautiful girls I like to call them by the name ‘kanya’ since this word does not reveal the beauty. Hence no discrimination. And moreover I follow- ‘all girls are beautiful in the dark.’
Now let me recall the names of kanyas who participated in prayag-rucha, puja, prakruti-a girl against prakriti, p_ravina, jyoss, juhi….and….and….and….although I never talked to any of them but few faces would always remain in my memory for their some hat ke peculiarities. And these peculiarities were responsible for christening of their nick name. like TATA Ace- apna chhota hathi. Another nickname for same girl was DAKIYA (postman) since always hanging a bag at her shoulder very similar to that of postman. These nicknames cause non sense discussion and good time pass creating wave of laugh through the circle of friends. The charm of relevant nicknames is that now whenever I see a tata ace vehicle, it makes me remember of that girl. Another features of tata ace includes her hair style and attire giving her psycho look which say to me –‘kaidi aaj hi jail se chhoota hai!’
Another nickname- kaam wali bai. A girl with open hair and some bhavoot (ashes) on her forehead. Her bhavoot made me feel as if she was washing the bartans with rakh (ash) and some of rakh stuck to her forehead. Always making noise – che-che-che…complete chatter box like a real bai.
One more nickname-daku haseena. A girl covering her face in white clothe and sharp eyes covered with black goggles on a mission of robbery in Hollywood style.
to be continued....

A cup of coffee

Every moment of my life i am living becomes the part of my past, as the each moment passes. When i think about my past, i realize that it is a vast book containing different pages, chapters of my life i have lived till date. Although every line of the book belongs to me but whether i can recollect all the pages? No, absolutely not. These pages, chapters are out of domain of my approach since either i am not interested for those forgotten moments or these are unimportant, just crap! What i still remember comes under the category ‘memories’. The speciality of the chapter ‘memories’ is that it always produce only two kind of feelings, emotions on our face depending upon the reflection of mirror of memory which always reflects two type of passed moment either happy or sad. Although life is all about pleasure and pain but we remember only those moments which are extreme or something different from usual pleasure or pain.

When today i am at my home waiting for my joining i think that two months before i was in my college enjoying last days of my college life, i go deep and deep in the clouds of memories and i am lost in the memorable past. A big smile spreads on my lips again and again. The four years of my engineering were really full of masti. I realize that i lived there four years as if i had been on a four years long holiday package. I lived there according to me, no punctualities in life. The one thing i noticed that i never needed to say ‘i don’t have time’. Let’s see what happens in my coming days.

On weekend every Friday night i walked with my friends along the streets of Bistupur, main market of Jamshedpur and the favourite time pass spot for all NITians. As usual for no purpose this time we were taking round of the market, visiting different showrooms. I do still remember that moment when we all guys were passing time in the showroom of Bata. The shopkeeper came to us and said ‘are you from XLRI?’

‘No, we are from NIT’ someone among us replied.

Hearing ‘are you from XLRI’ we felt the respect in the eyes of that shopkeeper and one of my friend Akhilesh said to me, ‘had been from XLRI’.

‘One day you will be in top ranked B-school, wish you all the best.’ I just said in my heart.

Now, this is my most recent memories attached to Jamshedpur. Most probably it was my second last time in Jamshedpur, last may be at the time of convocation, since i had gone there for my provisional certificate. That night i had dinner in blooms with my friends. At 10 pm we came out of the restaurant but we all wanted to spend more time in Bistupur since it was probably the last moment that we all five guys were there with each other. But we had no more options for time pass as the market had been closed. So we walked to a shop for mashala cold drink. Then we were just walking purposelessly, we noticed CCD was open. So we decided to have coffee with the concept of GTPS(get together pay separately). None was there in CCD other than us. Obviously waiters were there as usual they are expected. We were talking in the good ambience of CCD, a man came inside and asked, ‘is that your car?’ one of my friend moved to the door of CCD looking at the car as if he also had parked his car somewhere in front of the cafe and said, ‘oh, that scorpio! Sorry, it’s not mine.’ We came to know that somebody had parked that scorpio in front of his car that’s why he was searching for the owner of that car. We laughed that a cup of coffee made us owner of scorpio. I finished that cup of coffee saying goodbye Jamshedpur.

Could not say ‘bye’

Suppose you have to go somewhere by bus and you take a seat and the adjacent seat is vacant. Most of young generation boys hope that journey will be happier if a beautiful girl comes and asks you, ‘may i sit here?’ and you happily say ‘yeah, of course’. And this dream generally remains dream and you come out of this when a man in his 50’s puts his bums aside you with a sound ‘dhamm’. Then you generally travel that 3to 4 hours journey either in sleep mode or by peeping out of the bus window.

But this time my dream came into reality and i got a seat in the side of a girl, i mean a beautiful girl. The very first look about that girl was ‘girl in black’, a girl in black jeans and black shirt. The contrast in the colours of her attire and her fair skin was making her face more glow.

As i have read in physics that the charges of opposite nature attract each other with same magnitude. So this law was clearly applicable to this situation but here magnitude of attraction for both of us was same or not, i was not sure.

After a 4to5 km of journey having passed, i courageously asked to her, ‘are you studying in Delhi?’

‘yeah’.

‘What?’ i required.

‘C.A. and you ?’

‘I just completed B.Tech.’ ; i replied.

‘where from ?’ she asked.

‘NIT Jamshedpur , and today my 8th sem result will be declared’ i said.

‘oh...all the best’

‘Thanks’ , i said, ‘are u living in laxmi nagar?’

‘how did you know that i was living in laxmi nagar’. She asked.

‘By face reading’. i replied.

‘really?’ She surprisingly said.

‘no, i am just joking. Actually one of my friend is also pursuing CA and he is also living in Laxmi Nagar. So i just guessed.’

She smiled as if trying to say ‘very smart’.

The voice of that girl was very soft, sweet and magical so i wanted to talk to her more. So i asked more related to CA with the intension that i could listen her sweet voice.

‘How much time you have passed in Delhi for CA?’ i asked.

‘just two months’

She was seeming me in her 20’s , so i asked, ‘did you complete graduation this year?’

‘yeah, B.Com.’ she replied.

'If you don't mind may i come to know your name?', i added.

‘Uma’, She replied very softly.

‘sweet name’ i appreciated.

‘thanks’.

And i could not talk to her further because perhaps either she was tired or she had studied late in the last night or she was habitual of sleeping in the bus. So she slept putting her head on the window glass. And her closed eyes were appealing to me. So i wanted to say her something but i didn’t want to disturb her sleep. And i said it to her with my closed lips, ‘trust me, you would be more comfortable on my shoulder.’

I reached my destination, still she was sleeping. And so i could not say ‘bye’ to my fellow traveller.

Dhool wali Delhi

A few days back i was travelling to Delhi in the hot of summers. After few hours travel from my home, i was entering Delhi and my eyes were out of window looking at multi-storey buildings along the road. My eyes got stuck to a building shining like a mall and it was the metro station in Anand vihar and suddenly bus was braked and i got ...oh.. this is Delhi, i was in Anand vihar , starting of Delhi at the U P boarder.
Actually i had to go to Nangloi, so i caught bus no-236 for Nangloi. I was travelling in Delhi by this old and rough looking bus. It took 3 hours from Anad vihar to Nangloi via sheelampur, kashmiri gate, sahadara..
Although literally i was travelling in the capital of india but in real sense i felt that i was travelling through such a place which was full of dust and pollution. Pollution is obviously natural in a metro city but dust was because of construction flyovers, roads and metro bridges. I smiled ..oh..India is developing! There were boards/barricades along the road showing that construction is being done for common wealth games. so entire route was dusty. I said to myself –“dhool wali delhi” in the appreciation of the capital. Ultimately after a fatigue journey of 3 hrs i reached to my destination.
My eyes were continuously looking out of the bus window throughout my travel because it was the matter of capital of India. And that’s why i was curiously looking at the buildings, shops, flyovers that came in my route. But surprisingly i was disappointed and was asking from myself “ am i really in Delhi ?”. ok! it can be Delhi but it can’t be capital of India. Then i realized where we stand at international level. Obviously at sea level.
I travelled nearly 100 km along Delhi-Bareilly highway. The highway is full of dust because flyovers and roads are being constructed. I murmured –india is developing. I also had travelled once four years back on the same route. Then also construction was running keeping common wealth games in the mind. I encountered seven flyovers in this 100 km journey on this highway. I noticed that only one flyover was done and rest were under construction in spite of CWG being on head. In a span of time of 4 years it could not be completed. I think there are two reasons for this- first our genetic habit that we will never be on time and second it is in U P . Then my conscious remembered the story of tortoise and hare in which tortoise always wins. But in this case i felt that tortoise is tired and it don’t want to have a further race because speed of construction and development was obviously in front of my eyes. And anyone can conclude how lazy we are! So i wanted to cry ‘where does India stand?’. But the proverb “slow and steady wins the race” made me calm. Not because i like it but because i was taught this many times since my childhood. But i think it does not fit for the fast growing world. For me it is just a way to console ourselves if we fail to meet deadlines. This proverb for me is appealing as ‘be slow, be lazy and be irresponsible’. Had we really followed this proverb, we might be in the race, although at last. But unfortunately we are so lazy or say kaamchor that we have changed this according to our lazy habits ‘slow and unsteady’. That’s the reason that now we are so slow we don’t get work completed on time and irregularities and chaos are in the whole system of India.
If this is the condition of NCR, what we can expect at other parts of India, like Jharkhand ? naxalites! Don’t need to surprise. We generally talk about position of India on the globe, vision 2020 etc. And we are dreaming of India as a developed country by 2020. Be honest and face the truth, actually saying all this we are keeping ourselves in dark, betraying ourselves.
I noticed that the autos and buses travelling in the capital are similar to those running in my own small town. I mean to say that those are not of such standard which fit to the capital of a country. Still we don’t feel shy in comparing Delhi to the big cities of developed countries. This is the metro train which differentiates Delhi from other cities of India. And gives us the confidence in saying that yes...we have something of international standard. The low floor buses running in the capital also give a rise to the life style of the delhites.
I returned after two days stay in Delhi with the hope that we will be out of this illusion and one day after few decades we will really shine in the map of world. And i said ..... ‘thank God, i am out of dhool wali Delhi’.

वक़्त की रफ़्तार को काश मैं रोक पाता !

my few days at my college ,i feel like...

LG Anthem

Hi, I had written this LG anthem on 16 December on the eve of my office family day You can search video song of it on YouTube as well! LG A...
